Say what you want about Gregg - and beleive me the twittersphere has been SAYING things - At least he took responsibility last night:
"Two pitches. Twenty-five guys put together great efforts, and [because of] two pitches we walk out of here losing."
That about sums it up. But here's a couple of other quotes -
"He's the manager; you do what he says," Dempster said of Piniella...
and
"I don't know. I don't make those decisions." (about calling up BJ Ryan from AAA) and - this one's my favorite - "Why should I?" When asked if maybe Piniella might consider the possibility of changing Gregg's role as closer.
Right now, it seems like most of this team is padding themselves so when the inevitable crash comes, it won't be on them. Hey, I'm just a player. I listen to the manager. Hey I'm just the manager, I listen to the General Manager. Kiss my purple pimpled butt. But we'll get more into that later.
Look, at this point, you may as well leave Gregg. Marmol can't close the Dutch, let alone a major league team. Guzman, while he's shown dominating stuff at times, has no experience and isn't as consistent and one would need. Heilmann - shoot I almost got that out with a straight face.
Maybe Ryan will be the answer later - not now. But I wouldn't mind seeing him up here soon. Meantime, don't call for firing someone until you have someone else step up. GRegg gets just a touch more rope to hang himself with. After that, we'll need to talk a bit more.

Dang....Aren't we critical??
Check out Gordo's latest on last night's clusterf%&^:
Cubs still out of sync
Some highlights:
I mean, that's nothing compared to some of the stuff I've said over the past 10 months, but I'm a blogger. I can get away with that :) I'm not saying I disagree with any of it - far from it - but it's not the type of journalism I've come to expect.
Just interesting is all. BTW: In the interest of being fair, I don't plan to jump on the "Fire Gregg" bandwagon until he reaches 5 Blown Saves - Kerry Wood had 6 last year and everyone love him.
I WILL say tho - Gregg is NOT Wood, nor should Hendry have pretended he was. You could've signed Wood for a song and you said "No thanks, we've got Gregg. We're good."

Cubs still out of sync
Some highlights:
- The cocktail party is over
- ...Ryan Theriot's back-footed throw from deep in the shortstop hole...
- ...Gregg's 3-2 slider to nondescript Chris Duffy... <--Bulletin board material!
- ...and a nine-game homestand in front of a crowd with little tolerance for shaky closers.
- ...Miles hit into a double play to end the inning. And Marmol was spent for nothing.
- But Piniella also promised ''adjustments'' if needed. And it won't take many finishes like this one for that to happen.

I hear your sister's going out with...
...Ronny Cedeno.
Ok, let's say it. The little Bee-otch lost the game. Although the writing was on the wall when Edmunds committed that dumb schmuck error to start the inning. Woody can't close if his defense doesn't do the job. I don't have the numbers here, but Wood's become a second Zambrano - when a error is committed, he completely loses it. Like "Hey, it's not MY fault he dropped the ball. Oh well, screw it."
Such a ridiculous loss, it boggles the mind. I got a dollar that sayus if Marmol is closing, this game looks different. Now I'm not calling for Marmol to close - Wood's done a passable job, but can we not soak our drawers when someone screws up?
Bottom line is Little B#$%^ needs to make that play. Worst case, it's a 1-run game.
But then I guess every team needs a Rickie Weeks. Shoulda traded him while he had value. Now he doesn't even have a minute.

Oh Dear Jesus...
I can only imagine the conversation went something like this:
"Hey Carlos, you blew a 5 run lead yesterday and pissed away a great start from our new ace pitcher. Congratulations - you're going to the All Star Game!"
If you suspected that there is no justice in this world, here's your proof:

I....I....Right now I just have nothing to say about this right now...
He doesn't deserve one, but that's a minute...

Cards and Brew Crew Blow it....
Kinda take the sting out of yesterday's game. The Cardinals Blew a 10-6 lead in the ninth and LOST in extras. THAT'S gotta hurt. Here's the worst part - They blew a 1 run lead IN THE 10TH TOO!
I caught myself last night. Both the Brewers and the Cards have lost games late and I sat there saying to myself "That's what you get for having a crappy bullpen." Oh wait. I realized our bullpen ain't looking much better. I'd love to know what our bullpen's ERA is for the past week or two. I cant' remember a day that our bullpen hasn't given up at least 1 run.
That's not good by any measure. So, we's got's to get out sh^& together too.
Oh, by the way - once again - Best Record in Baseball. That helps a bit too...
There's a minute for ya...

Marmol is done...
A five run inning by the weak assed Giants and Harden's dominant performance means so much doggie mulch.
I'm not sure who I'm more upset with right now. Marmol for being a flake all of a sudden - have a fun trip to the DL or the minors or both, or Piniella for not pulling him, oh 3 runs ago. You have Marshall and Lieber in the pen and maybe you want Marmol to learn a "life lesson" and get himself out of trouble, but you pissed away a good start, and made the offense go back to work. As I write, it's still the 9th, so I don't even know if you two pissed away a full game.
It's ridiculous that the game got that out of hand. It wasn't fast, it was bloopers and errors. It was loaded bases. It was bull#$%^.
Going into the 10th. That's my minute.
